I know it’s Halloween but is there an underlying meaning to why those costumes were created?

      Heh, yeah, I know what you mean. I left Halloween costume shopping until the last minute last year and ended up going as Spiderman because the remaining female costumes didn’t seem appropriate to wear to a party with people from work. Though there weren’t really service-industry costumes as I remember. More like devil, bunny, vamp, cat and some bizarre slutty medieval themed costumes. Oh, and the miniskirt witch.

      My theory is they want to save money on fabric by making sexy costumes.

Me and a bunch of my friends are also going as True Blood waitresses, we got cheap costumes on ebay for all of us and each is going to be one of the waitresses. These are cool cause we can wear them to work without breaking the dress code policy as long as we wear black skirts instead of shorts lol. I think a Lady Gaga one would be pretty cool….not the pantless kinds, but one of those weird dresses, if you can afford making it.

    I was out looking for a Halloween costume the other day and it seems like all the costumes out there are basically for hookers. It is getting ridiculous. This just further promotes unhealthy, immoral behavior. It doesn’t seem like our over-sexed culture is healthy for young girls or women at all for that matter. I always thought dressing up for Halloween is a fun idea, but nowadays it seems to be more about how slutty you can look rather than how creative, interesting your costume. I’m just plain sick of superficiality and the constant sexual objectification of women. It really worries me what kind of repercussions this is going to have on society as kids who are constantly exposed to this type of culture grow up.
    Wow, some people out there are inexplicably angry. I’m not a man-hater and I’ve never had trouble attracting men and I don’t dress slutty. On the contrary, I feel that I’m actually much more successful at attracting quality men than some of my female friends who feel the need to dress slutty for attention.

    Also, I know that kids aren’t always present at Halloween parties, but they see the costumes in the store and on their parents before they go out, and kids tend to emulate their parents or other adults.

    I was particularly concerned because I saw a women looking at really slutty (boobs hanging out, midriff baring) costumes and trying them on for her pre-teen daughters. Then, the girls (probably around 10 and 13) also picked out very revealing costumes (low cut, short skirts). This disturbs me and I don’t think it is healthy or good for a young girl to dress like that. It promotes low self-esteem and puts too much focus on the wrong things.

      Lol! I just came back from shopping with that exact same problem. The men’s costumes were all kinds of characters, like they had every male Simpsons character but not one female one.

      The women’s costumes aren’t even anything, they’re just lame excuses to dress slutty with names like Victorian fantasy girl or sexy prisoner. Why can’t we have historical figures like Queen Victoria or funny costumes like what the men have. And what women fits in these damn things anyways? Even if I could look good in those things, I don’t think I’d want to walk around town in them.

      Okay here’s what im doing and it takes like 10 seconds. Just write a sign that says “Costume” and tape it to a shirt.
      Or take a cereal box, stab it with a spoon so it sticks in the box, use red marker for blood, tie it around yourself, and BAM your a “cereal” killer.
