      I actually made this outfit with my mom for school when I was little. I was a dalmation. Take a white sweatshirt and sweatpants get some black material (we used black felt) and cut out little circles and put a couple of stitches in it to hold it to the suit. Then we took white face paint and painted my face and put a black circle around my eye. For the ears we just put my hair in pig tales. Good luck!

    Any of you parents making your kids’ halloween costumes?
    I am having a really hard time finding a costume for my 13 month old… All of the toddler costumes at the stores are too big for him and the infant ones are too babyish.

    The other issue I’m having is that most of the costumes for younger toddlers/babies are really hot looking and we live where it will still be pretty warm on Halloween.

    Are any of you making your own costume for your child and what are you making? Or if anyone has any ideas they could share that’d be wonderful too!

      Yep, I’m making Em’s costume. She’s going to be Foofa (from Yo Gabba Gabba) and it’s been a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. I had a lot of the supplies already.

      I bought a foofa hat on etsy, she already had a pink shirt, pink tutu, pink tights, and the pink shoes. All I need now is to go buy some felt and some fabric glue and then I am going to make a Foofa face on her shirt. I think it’s going to come out really cute when it’s all said and done.

      I agree that’s hard to find infant costumes. I don’t have to worry about the warmth factor since it’s always cold on Halloween, but they are sized so oddly. Hmmm, what does he like to watch on tv? Any favorite stuffed animals? A dalmation would be easy. White t-shirt and pants and then glue black spots made of felt all over it. Buy a black headband from the girl’s section and glue two dog ears on it. Or have the white shirt be a hoodie and glue the ears on top of the hood if you don’t want to go the headband route.
      There’s also this ADORABLE gnome costume for infants and toddlers at Target. It even comes with a little beard…lol. I would have gotten it if I had found it in C’s size (although I am very happy with his dinosaur costume).

      Get a picture of the joker that you want to use and do it yourself. Copy the makeup job from your picture and i think the outfit is mainly purple. Be creative. A homemade outfit will look so much better than those cheap thin material ones and the joker costume mainly centers around the make up job anyway.

    making a halloween costume, need to know how to measure elastic?
    I am making a halloween costume for my infant grandson. I work for a chocolate company and want to make him to be a bag of MM’s . I need to know how much elastic to put across the bottom. I can’t remember the elastic ruling. Is it half the elastic to make it snug or double the elastic of the width of the garment. I want it to fit like baby nightgowns. thanks help quickly would be appreciated.

      Elastic is stretchy, so you would want less elastic than the hem of your garment. Different elastic stretches differently; I’d recommend holding a tape measure against it and, holding one end, stretch about six inches as far as you can on the tape measure. Most often it will at least double in length to twelve inches. If that is the case, you would need a piece of elastic half the length of your hem.

      Different people and applications would also impact how much elastic to use. If doing a waistband, you would probably want it pretty snug, so a ratio of half the elastic to the hem length should be fine. If doing a hem at the knees or arms, you’d want the elastic perhaps a bit looser to allow for more movement. Elastic at the wrists would probably be pretty tight: only enough to slip over the thickest part of the hands.

      I suggest you go with the ones that look most comfortable because they wont want to stay out for to long if they are wearing itchy costumes.

      For the 4 month old i suggest the lamb or rabbit (they are both adorable and look super comfy plus the rabbit has a rattle)

      For the 2 year old I think the minnie mouse one is ADORABLE!!!! It would look super cute on a little girl with blonde hair and blue eyes

      For the 3 year old I think any little girl with brown hair would make a great Dorothy! She will probably love the little basket with Toto in it :)

      My favorite costumes for my kids were the winnie the pooh characters that my mom made. So they have my vote. You could have so much fun with 3 babies.   42. QUESTION:
    Old Navy halloween costumes question?
    If you have bought your infant/toddler an old navy costume, was it true to size? My son wears 18-24 months clothing, and I just ordered him a 12-24 months costume. 24 months pants are a little too big on him, but he can’t wear smaller due to length. The next size up is 2t-3t, and I can’t imagine it would fit because he can barely wear 24 months. Do you think his costume will fit?

      Well if they are followng the sizing of their clothes, then the costume should fit beautifully!! Old Navy has always been true to size when we ordered clothes online :)

    Children’s Halloween Costume Ideas – My 2 year old daughter will be a chicken, and ideas for my infant?
    For halloween this year, I saw this adorable chicken costume that I am going to make for my daughter, who will be 2. We are expecting our second daughter at the end of September / first part of October, so she will only be about a month old. Does any one have any ides what I could dress my infant daughter up as, coordinating it with the chicken? The only thing that I have come up with is a “feed sack”, making it out of fleece, but I am not sure of it. I was hoping some one else might have a suggestion. It would have to be warm. We live in VT and Halloween is usually chilly, and obviously it would need to be age appropriate for a 1 month old. Thanks in advance!

      How about an egg? You could get her a white sweatsuit, and cut out the shape of an egg from posterboard or something for when you want to show off her costume. Otherwise, she’ll be comfy and warm in the sweats (PS- check Walmart… their Granimals sweats are great and cheap!!)

      Then you can also answer the age old question, at least in your case, the chicken came first =)

    I’m trying to find a plain white infant sleeper/body suit/sleep N’ play with long sleeves and feet for a halloween costume. I can’t find one online anywhere and the stores don’t seem to carry them either.

      sleepers im not sure.. but a back of long sleeve onsies might work.. they come in packs.. sleepers r meant to be fun and designed so i wouldnt count on finding one :-/ check overstock.com or amazon or ebay or somethin. but use the onsies and a pair of tights/leggings :)
